Local Bites: Thai Lanna & Sushi Bar
When I used to live in New Tampa during my undergrad years, many of my dinners were spent at Thai Lanna & Sushi Bar - it was right across the street from my apartment complex, and the food was always hot, fresh and delicious. It had been a while since I last dined there, but after attending Bulls For Kids at the University of South Florida this past weekend with my family, my sister was craving Pad Thai, and I knew just the spot to take her.
The restaurant was just as I remembered - absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous statues and idols adorn the restaurant, enhancing the dining experience. I made sure to put in orders of my two favorite items there - Thai iced tea and Po Tak, a spicy, lemon-y broth with mushrooms, onions, green mussels, shrimp and squid. SO good, just like I remembered.
We also put in orders of seaweed salad, spicy salmon sushi rolls and chicken Pad Thai. The seaweed salad was fresh and crunchy, while the spicy salmon rolls hit the spot for me. I had a taste of my sister's chicken Pad Thai - you'll enjoy this if you like your Pad Thai on the sweeter side. If you don't like it sweet, make sure to note that to your server.
I was really happy to be able to visit this spot again, I missed it a lot. I'm rarely in the New Tampa area, but I would gladly make the trip for my delicious Thai iced tea and Po Tak soup.
